Ross Tomlin for Bend-La Pine School Board

Zone 6

“I can’t imagine a better choice than Ross Tomlin. Ross has spent a lifetime advocating for access to quality education.  He has led multiple institutions through many challenges and has always left them better than when he started. Ross has always put the student at the forefront of decision making and out communities are better for that. He has my highest endorsement.”

~Dr. Paul Jarrell, President of Tillamook Bay Community College

Promoting Hands-On & Career-Technical Education (CTE)

Ross has a strong background in forestry and hands-on learning, and he understands the importance of engaging students through practical, real-world applications. Measure 98, which supports CTE programs, aligns with his vision of providing students with the skills and equipment needed for success in high-demand fields.

Student-Centered Learning & Engagement

Ross’s teaching experience highlights the need to move away from traditional lecture-based methods and toward active, participatory learning. He believes in motivating students by making them active participants in their education, which is especially critical in today’s learning environment.

Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (DEI) in Education

Ross has a long-standing commitment to supporting underserved students and ensuring equity in education. He recognizes the importance of creating an inclusive environment where all students, regardless of background, have access to opportunities and resources.

I enthusiastically endorse Ross Tomlin for the Bend-LaPine school board. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Tomlin for 7 years when he was the President of Tillamook Bay Community College (TBCC) and I was on his board. He is a strong and steady leader, thoughtful, effective and fiscally conservative. Under Dr. Tomlin's leadership, TBCC's enrollment and programming grew, and the college successfully secured funding to build a new healthcare education building. He shepherded our community college through the pandemic, during which TBCC was one of the only community colleges in the state to grow in enrollment. Bend-LaPine is fortunate indeed to have Dr. Tomlin on the school board, and I encourage voters to support him.
